OPPORTUNITY

The science of helping athletes recover from from surgery and sports injury has changed dramatically with a new field termed "accelerated rehabilitation."  Using physiological pressure points surrounding the injury, a practitioner or athlete can pulse electrical current into deep-tissue to stimulate healing through enhanced blood flow and movement.  Current technology however required large 'in-clinic' machines that are clunky and difficult to use.  

INSIGHT

To create a simple, lightweight, portable therapy device that an athlete or training staff can use on the sideline or at home, with a suite of accessories to compliment the full user-centered experience.  

DESIGN STRATEGY

Herbst worked with Elite Therapy to study and create a fully integrated therapy device with a hardware, software and brand experience that expressed the revolutionary precision aspect of this remarkable technology.   

SMALL BUT POWERFULL

With a rigorous design, mechanical and electrical cross-collaboration the WAV therapy device utilizes a series of patented electrical wave forms able to access and stimulate the deepest tissue.  

COMPLEX TO SIMPLE

The WAV system consists of multiple pieces and parts to support full-body use, along with numerous modes and settings to help address a complete spectrum of physical recovery.  Herbst worked with the Elite therapy team to refine the user experience with an intuitive touchscreen and a series of pre-settings to easily toggle between modalities, along with a physical suite of components designed to be easily and instantly setup and deployed.
