Herbst is led by the iconic father & son design team of Walter and Scot Herbst between their Chicago and Silicon Valley offices.  Walter founded his first design firm HLB in 1962 and in addition to being the Chairman and Chief of Operations at Herbst today he is the Director of the Masters in Product Development (MPD) graduate studies program at Northwestern University.  Business Week magazine referred to Walter as one of the "Father's of Product Design" and granted him status as one of the Best of the Decade for his contribution to the modern product design landscape.  Son Scot is the hands-on Creative Director of Herbst and runs the Silicon Valley office.  Walter and Scot share over 230 patents and have won numerous design awards for their innovative work across healthcare, consumer tech, housewares, hardware and furniture.
