OPPORTUNITY

Trucking will be the first widespread commercial application for autonomous vehicle technology, helping streamline the backbone of the American economy, which moves 70% of all freight. San Francisco based Starsky Robotics is positioned to be one of the leading forces behind this momentous shift. Today Starsky is developing their driverless truck techniology which will be capable of providing full autonomy on the highway and are then remote controlled by drivers for the first and last mile.

Starsky partnered with Herbst to help optimize their core autonomous technology and better design it for the rigorous external application on long-haul freight trucks.

INSIGHT

Herbst had to consider the full spectrum of environmental characteristics including aerodynamics, external mounting, servicing and manufacturing for a multi-faceted autonomy system including camera imaging and radar sensing.

RESULTS

STARSKY is currently being deployed on Volvo trucks throughout North America. Details of the STARSKY system are currently confidential.
