OPPORTUNITY

One of the most respected rituals on Planet Earth. Americans alone consume over 400 million cups…EACH DAY! And yet, to get that perfect cup of fresh ground coffee we really have two options: 1)we can play with a kitchen chemistry set to try and grind and drip our way to perfection, or 2) we schlep ourselves to the nearest point of (in)convenience where we rely on a host of people just to hand us our daily fix. Sure there’s no shortage of pre-ground coffee “packets” (with a shelf life of many years), but while Keurig is convenient it’s no perfect cup.

INSIGHT

Can we develop a platform that leverages a growing supply of amazing artisanal craft-roasters, helps us navigate and curate the perfect roast, AND seamlessly brews to perfection from the comfort and convenience of our own kitchen…all while reducing the footprint of the bean pod.

DESIGN STRATEGY

Meet Brewbird: Fresh-roasted whole bean coffee in a compostable paper pod — precision brewed at the touch of a button. Brewbird flies high by addressing the “Keurig-Effect” where billions of plastic containers are sent to landfill. And after years of R&D this bird has beauty and brains, with a precision orchestra of internal grinding and brewing the onboard intelligence tailors each cup to specific heat-pressure-time characteristics that express maximum flavor from each bean. Better flavor + Better for the planet = Best design experience.
